Aloha kākou! I am Koleka Haia Taaca, a 5th grade teacher. I teach Hawaiian language arts to my 5th grade ʻuo mamo class. I also teach social studies to both the 5th and 6th grade classes. I am originally from Waiʻanae in the ahupuaʻa Lualualei where we returned after graduating from UH Hilo in 2010. My husband and I decided to move our family back to Hawaiʻi island in 2013. This is my 5th year teaching at Nāwahī. My husband also works at Nāwahī as a 8-11 grade kumu at Nāwahī Nui. We have two children here at Nāwahī. Our oldest is Hokuola and he is in Kumu Kēhau's 2nd grade class. Our youngest, Sanoe, is in Kumu Nāʻilima's kindergarten class.

Social studies is a very interesting subject for me and I love that I have the opportunity to continue to learn news things, even while teaching your keiki throughout the year. Mahalo for visiting my pages. If you have any questions about your keiki's class, please feel free to send me an e-mail. Here's to a great school year for us all! ALOHA!
