Today we went to see a boat at school. The name of the boat is Mauloa the meaning of Mauloa is to keep going. Mauloa is a boat that you paddle out with. One of my questions was if Mauloa raced before, yes Mauloa did race and all the other teams were teasing Mauloa because it was a small boat but Mauloa still raced and Mauloa won 1st and Mauloa came in 3 hours before the other boats.

Greetings to the people of Hawaiʻi, from Keawe to Lehua, welcome everybody. We learned a lot about the canoe Mauloa. First of all, Mauloa only has one hull so they do not stay on the sea because there is no place to sleep. Second of all, they do not sail Mauloa to Oʻahu, they put it on a cargo ship and ship it there. Fun fact: Mauloa is the first canoe that the group Nā Kalai Waʻa built, they also built it out of the tree they used to sit under.

That's all that I wanted to say. Thank you for listening.

There were a lot of very important things I learned on Mauloa. The first thing is there is this thing on Mauloa called a mōmoa and the mōmoa brings the ancestors and keeps the people on Mauloa safe. The second is if Mauloa was flipped over then you can flip it back by putting all your weight on this thing called the pola. And the third is they used coconut fibers to make the rope and it is very strong. It can hold the sail and many other things on Mauloa. It is very important to learn these skills and I am happy to share these skills with you guys.
