Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu
“No ʻAneʻi Ko Kākou Ola”
Aloha e nā ʻohana o ka papa 3 - 8,
The students of Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu, grades 3 - 8, are once again being required to participate in yet another survey administered by the Hawaiʻi Department of Education (DOE). Although we have continually expressed our concerns to the DOE that these types of surveys in English or surveys translated through English and based on western perspectives (which is the basis for English medium schooling) neither benefits our children nor the overall goals of our Hawaiian Medium Education Program.
Families of any student are given the choice to participate in the survey. If you wish to have your child complete this survey, please communicate this decision to your Kumu ʻUo Mamo by tomorrow, January 15, 2026 as surveys will be administered on Friday, January 16, 2026. If communication is not received, it will be assumed that your child will NOT be participating.

Our annual Makahiki activities will be held on November 24th, 25th, and 26th. Please check that your child comes to school in a red P.E. uniform or lole pūlama. Since this is a time of frequent rain please, provide an extra uniform for your child in the case that they get wet or muddy.
We will also be collecting canned goods to donate to families in need. If possible, please send a canned good with your child to school to give to their kumu ʻUo Mamo. Canned goods will be collected on Monday, November 24th.
